PARTNERING WITH US
To accelerate a sustainable and resilient agricultural and food supply chain for our regional and local markets, FMO provides tailored support to our clients and works with partners that aim to meet the rising demand for nutritious food. But what does that look like in practice?
We invest in businesses that help to improve access to nutritious food and reduce food waste (e.g. through more and improved storage and distribution). The overall goal? To increase local production and reduce reliance on imports. Smallholders play an important role in food production: they support the livelihoods of many of the most vulnerable. We support the integration of smallholders into supply chains through, among others, financing digital technology and platforms, training and community engagement, and access to finance.
No matter what country we visit, the effects of climate change are impacting agriculture and food production. At the same time, the sector also contributes to climate change. Consequently, we work closely with our clients to make the sector more sustainable, resource-efficient and resilient throughout the agricultural supply chains.

AFRICAN CHEETAHS FAST-GROWING AGRIBUSINESS COMPANIES
Together with IFC and Finnfund, we organize a bi-annual get-together called the African Cheetahs. The Cheetahs are a community of 25 young and fast-growing food and agribusiness companies from across Sub-Saharan Africa. The aim is to share experiences and knowledge about successfully scaling agribusiness SMEs in often challenging emerging market environments.
MOBILISING FINANCE FOR FORESTS
Mobilising Finance for Forests was established in 2021 by the UK Government and FMO as a blended finance investment program. The program aims to mobilize private investments in the forestry and sustainable land use sectors, such as to combat deforestation and other unsustainable land practices in the tropical rainforest of Africa, Asia and Latin America.
DUTCH FUND FOR CLIMATE AND DEVELOPMENT
