CHALLENGE OF A DECADE
Why we must take soil more seriously
Trees hold CO2, we all know that by now. But so does soil — if you treat it in the right way. In this podcast, FMO’s Pieternel Boogaard, Director of Agribusiness, Food and Water, and Barbara Baarsma, CEO of Rabo Carbo Bank and Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Amsterdam, talk about investing in soil management. Good soil gives good food, and holds a lot of carbon, which allows farmers to contribute to closing the emissions gap, limiting global temperature rise and protecting biodiversity. But how do you get farmers to change their ways?
